Synergistic Techno-Economic Model for PV-Integrated EV Charging at Fuel Stations: A Case Study in Egypt
This study investigates the techno-economic feasibility of integrating on-grid photovoltaic (PV) systems with electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at existing fuel stations in Egypt. The analysis is conducted using Homer Grid software, a leading tool for optimizing distributed energy systems. The methodology is structured into key phases including site selection, data collection, system modeling, and economic analysis, all tailored to the specific context of Egypt. A representative fuel station was chosen based on criteria such as solar irradiance, grid connection, traffic patterns, and available space for PV installation. Comprehensive data, including solar irradiance from NASA, load profiles, and economic variables such as Capital Cost (CAPEX), Operating Cost (OPEX), and electricity tariffs were gathered to inform the analysis. The study's results demonstrate the potential for integrating PV systems with EV charging stations to enhance the sustainability and economic viability of existing fuel stations. The findings contribute to the broader discourse on sustainable energy solutions and offer practical implications for policymakers and industry stakeholders in Egypt and similar regions.
