Intelligent Scheduling of Floating Nuclear Reactor Operation for Implementation of Distributed Smart Energy Systems in Remote Coastal Locations

Smart energy encompasses concepts and technologies designed to ensure a sustainable energy future for humanity. One innovative solution for energy generation in isolated areas, where conventional energy sources are not readily available, is the use of floating nuclear reactors. This paper explores the development of distributed smart energy systems, specifically focusing on the deployment of movable floating reactors between multiple remote but shore accessed locations. The core of this study is a novel approach to intelligently schedule the operation of a floating reactor, which must serve various locations. The proposed method determines when the reactor will operate at a specific site and its subsequent destination. It employs a fuzzy logic system, considering multiple technical and social factors in the decision-making process. The method's effectiveness is tested in simulated scenarios involving several cities that have energy infrastructures compatible with the floating reactor. Moreover, the intelligent scheduler is compared with a fixed-time round-robin approach and demonstrated greater flexibility. Additionally, efficiency metrics applied to the simulation indicate a reduction in overall operational time (cycle) due to the intelligent scheduling system.
