Statistical analysis of aircraft gas turbine engine failures caused by quality of fuel

The paper is devoted to the urgent problem raised in the Ukrainian Air Force and related to the reduction of reliability and durability of jet fighters in its fleet. The paper is focused on increased failures in the engines of Su-27 and MiG-29 fighters. The collection of real data and analysis of engine failures was done within the scope of this study. The detected failures were systematized according to the location of damage, its severity, and possible impact on the operability of the aircraft. This research is aimed at the analysis of characters and possible reasons for the detected damage appearance. The main focus of the study is engine damages and failures, which are caused by the quality of jet fuel used and the substantiation of fuel's negative impact on the reliability and operability of jet fighters. Received statistical data may be further used for the development of recommendations and practical measures for jet fuel supply to prevent and minimize engine damages, ensuring the reliability and airworthiness of military aircraft.
