Design of Compact Inverted C-Shaped Antenna with Dual-Band for WLAN Applications
The advancement of wireless communication technology has driven the need for innovative antenna designs to meet the demands of modern systems. Integrated multi-band antennas, crucial for contemporary applications, require high efficiency, compactness, and wide bandwidth. Microstrip antennas have gained prominence due to their costeffectiveness, low profile, ease of integration, and portability. One effective technique for achieving compact dual-band designs is aperture loading of the radiating patch, which provides dual-band and wideband operation with lower resonant frequencies. This study focuses on a hybrid C-shaped microstrip antenna design, incorporating width and length slots as key dimensions. Using Ansys HFSS 2021 R1 for simulation, we conducted a parametric study to optimize the antenna's performance by varying parameters such as ground plane length, feed line length, substrate material, and thickness. The optimized design aims to achieve dual-band frequencies at 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, suitable for WLAN applications. We analyze the antenna's radiation pattern and gain at 2.4 GHz and summarize our findings to present the overall effectiveness of the proposed design.
