Optimum Size and Location of Distributed Generation (DG) in the Distribution Network Using Tree Seed Algorithms (TSA)
Distributed generation (DG) significantly improves power system reliability and voltage profile, and reduces power losses. These benefits can be maximized by optimizing the DG utilization, which greatly depends on the adequate number, size, and placement of DG. This study presents a novel technique for optimizing the number and location of DG units in distribution networks to optimize their performance. By optimizing voltage profiles and reducing network losses, including both active and reactive power, the ideal size of the DG unit is to be situated. The proposed method is tested on the IEEE 33-bus radial distribution system. MATLAB is used to implement the strategy taking into account the worst-case possibilities for overloading. To maximize voltage profiles and reduce losses, the Tree Seed Algorithms (TSA) optimization technique is been used to calculate the ideal DG size. The results obtained from the analysis are compared with those from other studies, suggesting that the proposed method addresses the issue efficiently and accurately.
