Enhancement of Runway Area Division for More Accurate Pavement Condition Index Assessment
This article addresses the issue of designing a new layout of monitored areas for the implementation and evaluation of the Airport's Pavement Condition Index. Based on a comprehensive analysis of the life course of the reinforced cover at a specific airport, an evaluation of long-term operational characteristics, and the occurrence of defects, a new distribution of areas was proposed, which better reflects the operational load. Precisely targeted and effectively divided monitoring surfaces will enable better monitoring of the development of faults, evaluation and precisely targeted planning of funds for performing surface repairs. The airport operator will also be able to predict operating costs on precisely defined runway areas.
