Enhancing Transient Response in Autonomous DC microgrids Via Adaptive Droop control with Virtual inertia
The intrinsic inertia supplied by DC capacitors in DC microgrids is restricted, making the voltage of DC bus prone to variations in the power. This leads to reduced quality of the DC output voltage. This paper presents virtual inertia and damping control (VID) method based on adaptive droop control (ADC) is proposed and applied with the energy storage units (ESUs). The implementation of the VID strategy is based on the operational dynamics of capacitors during both charging and discharging phases. The strategy aims to regulate the exterior features of converters found in DC microgrids (DCMG), with the goal of enhancing the inertia and damping properties of the system. The VID method succeeded in reinforcing the inertia and damping of DC microgrids in addition to achieving acceptable power sharing between energy storage units. The control method is implemented using MATLAB software. The obtained results indicated the efficiency and high potential of the suggested scheme.
