Speed and Position Servo Drive Tuning and Testing During the Learnig Process
The need to tune the parameters of speed and position controllers of an electric servo drive is common in engineering practice. Therefore, this subject is taught at the Institute of Automotive Mechatronics of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and IT in Bratislava. As part of the teaching process, students tune the speed and position controllers and then verify the characteristics of the control loop by simulation and experiment. The paper describes the procedure for tuning the parameters of servo drive control loops with IP controllers using the pole placement method, the description of the workstations for performing the experiments, the tasks to be solved in the course of the lessons, and an example of results.
