Analysis of New Mechanisms in the Fast Reroute

Nowadays, computer networks are used more than ever, and their reliability and performance are crucial to ensure the continuity of services. Fast Reroute (FRR) mechanisms playa vital role in modern networks, where they provide effective solutions to mitigate line and node outages, thereby minimizing packet loss and extending service uptime. This study focuses on a detailed analysis of current FRR mechanisms, including technological features and innovations that enhance their effectiveness in dynamic and complex network environments. We will explore how modern approaches and algorithms affect the ability to detour quickly and the main challenges and trends in this area. The goal is to provide an overview of the current development of FRR mechanisms and the expected direction of their further development. We will focus on three FRR mechanisms developed in the last two years - In-Network Fast ReRouting (InFaRR), Traffic-Aware Fast Reroute (TA-FRR), and Fast and Low-Redundancy Failure Recovery Framework (FLAIR).
