Learning Environment in the Digital Age for Personalised STEM Education
In this paper, we map the current view of educational environments to support personalized learning, the use of digital technologies for the development of scientific and digital literacy. We present the key features of the learning environment for STEM education in terms of achieving educational goals, learner-centered education, and targeted development of knowledge and skills for the 21st century. We describe the learning zones, their potential for active exploration by the learner, and the use of blended learning methods. We reflect on the potential of digital technologies available to the school for data collection, processing, evaluation and presentation, teamwork and project solving. We briefly present the results of a mapping of the current state of school science laboratories in Slovakia. Based on current trends in the design and features of learning environments, we present a developed model of school learning environments specifically tailored to the national specifics of our educational system.
