Saq Training For Enhanced Athletic Performance: Examining Speed and Strength Outcomes In Jumpers, Throwers, and Sprinters

Background: SAQ exercises are widely used to enhance athletic performance, with speed, agility and quickness offering additional benefits like reduced joint impact and higher resistance. This study evaluates the effects of a6-week SAQ training program on speed and strength among sprinters, throwers, and jumpers. Methods: Forty athletes aged 17-24 were divided into four groups: sprinters, throwers, jumpers, and a control group. The experimental groups followed a structured SAQ program (4 sessions/week), while the control group engaged only in recreational activities. Speed (50m dash) and leg strength (standing broad jump) were measured pre- and post-training. ANCOVA was used for statistical analysis. Results: Significant improvements were observed in the experimental groups compared to the control group (p<0.05). For speed, the adjusted mean scores were 7.227 seconds for sprinters, 7.209 seconds for throwers, and 7.247 seconds for jumpers, compared to the control group's 7.518 seconds (p=0.002). For leg strength, the adjusted mean scores were 2.412 meters for sprinters, 2.393 meters for throwers, and 2.452 meters for jumpers, significantly higher than the control group’s 2.311 meters (p=0.001). Conclusion: SAQ training significantly improves both speed and leg strength, with throwers showing the highest speed gains (p=0.002) and jumpers achieving the greatest strength improvements (p=0.001). Its low-impact nature and resistance benefits make it an effective tool for enhancing athletic performance. Coaches and trainers are encouraged to adopt this training approach, while future studies should explore its long-term effects on broader athlete populations.
