A Reliable Transmission of Medical Data Based on Minimal Cut Set Technique in Wireless Body Sensor Networks (WBSNs)
In medical applications, the patient's biomedical data in real-time are collected by the biomedical sensor nodes which are used to sense and measure from the human body, and then biomedical data are transmitted toward the sink node. The network of biomedical sensor nodes on the human body is called Wireless Body Sensor Networks (WBSNs). All biomedical packets are time-sensitive and require biosensor nodes such as temperature, Electroencephalogram (EEG), oxygen saturation, Electromyogram (EMG), heart rate, and blood pressure to timely report their data. The accuracy of biomedical data in WBSN is provided by biosensor nodes in order to deliver correctly to the sink node. The reliability of biomedical packets is critical for the success of WBSNs, as a result, it is important to ensure reliable data transmission in WBSNs. In this paper, the proposed scheme, which applies a novel mathematical model, is presented to achieve reliability. The model employs the Probability of Link Status (PLS) and the Minimal Cut Set (MCS) in multi-hop in WBSNs to find the reliability based on link status which is PLS-MCS. This scheme systematically increases the level of reliability and guarantees the successful delivery of biomedical packets to the sink node in WBSNs. The results have shown a new scheme that confirms the higher performance of the reliability through the calculation of the probability of successful reception at the sink node.
