Finite-Control-Set Model Predictive Control with Discrete Space Vector Modulation for Shunt Active Power Filter

Shunt Active Power Filter (SAPF), as an efficient and reliable harmonic elimination device, has found its applications in numerous industrial scenarios. Finite Control Set Model Predictive Control (FCS-MPC), leveraging its advantages such as variable decoupling and ease of incorporating various constraints, has emerged as a viable alternative for controlling grid-connected converters. However, conventional FCS-MPC eliminates the modulation component, enabling it to output only one of the eight fundamental voltage vectors within a sampling period. This characteristic leads to a dispersed output voltage spectrum, posing challenges for the application of FCS-MPC in SAPF. In this paper, FCS-MPC is incorporated into SAPF, and the modulation method of Discrete Space Vector Modulation (DSVM) is introduced to enlarge the selectable vector set. This approach effectively enhances the compensation performance of SAPF while retaining the merits of FCS-MPC. The simulation results validate the effectiveness of this methodology.
