Spatial Monitoring Using Transmit-Only Static Wireless Sensors Under Uncertainties: A Search-Based Detection Approach

This paper considers the spatial monitoring of a slowly varying, unknown distributed quantity, such as temperature over a wide area, using wireless sensors in the presence of time and frequency domain uncertainties, and additive white noise. It is assumed that a large number of wireless sensors collect their slowly-varying local data to share with a data fusion center (DFC) for spatial monitoring. The DFC employs a computationally efficient algorithm to recover the sensors' data in the presence of clock and carrier uncertainties, fast fading and noise. The blocks of a computationally efficient receiver are explored and instances of recovered data are presented at the DFC. The significance of the proposed approach are its low computational complexity, simplicity, and tractability for real-life applications.
