Flux Weakening Capability and Torque Performance Enhancement Design of a New Hybrid-Rotor-Pole Controllable Flux PM Motor
In this article, a new hybrid-rotor-pole controllable flux PM (HRPCF-PM) motor is proposed, where the asymmetrical rotor-pole units are designed to realize the synchronous enhancement of the flux-weakening capability and torque performances. Meanwhile, by the combinatorial design of asymmetric units and slotted notch design, the cogging torque of the HRPCF-PM motor is effectively reduced, thereby the torque ripple. On this basis, a new flux-oriented optimization method considering the flux variation characteristic of the HRPCF-PM motor is proposed, where the objectives of the flux-weakening capability and output torque capability are translated into the programming of the effective flux at no load and rated load. Finally, the electromagnetic performances of the HRPCF-PM motor are evaluated by the finite element analysis and verified by experiments, which show good accordance and confirm the effectiveness of the new motor design.
