The role of family support in palliative care: challenges and best practices
This article explores the critical role of families in palliative care for terminally ill patients. A literature review was conducted in September 2024 using the PubMed scientific database to analyze support for patients with advanced disease across various domains. Key findings highlight the challenges faced by caregivers, including physical and emotional burdens, as well as the need for comprehensive medical, psychological, and spiritual support. The analysis underscores the importance of caregiver training, effective communication with the medical team, and access to external resources to alleviate caregiver strain, enhance patient care, and promote the well-being of both patients and their families.
