An Assessment And Characterisation Of Yamuna River’s Water Quality In UttarPradesh, India
Water samples were collected for the current study from four different Yamuna River stations in Uttar Pradesh. i.e. Mathura, Agra, Firozabad, and Etawah from June to December 2023 on monsoon basis. This study evaluated the regional differences in the physicochemical properties of Yamuna River water quality for home use. Taking into account eight water quality indices, monitoring was done during pre- monsoon and post-monsoon periods. In all four sample sites, the following values were recorded: pH, Electrical Conductivity, Total Dissolved Solids, Turbidity, Dissolved Oxygen, Biological Oxygen Demand, and Chemical Oxygen Demand. The physicochemical parameter values of Yamuna River water do not fall within the maximum acceptable bounds established by BIS. The conclusion showed that proper, methodical management tactics and techniques to restore the river's water quality are urgently needed in order to sustain a robust and optimistic human civilization.
