WCN25-3928 VARIED MANIFESTATIONS AND ASSOCIATIONS OF LEPTOSPIRA AKI - CLINICAL AND HISTOPATHOLOGICAL ANALYSIS
Leptospirosis is a zoonosis (reservoir rat) caused by Leptospira interrogans obligate aerobic spirochete (1). Human transmission occurs by contact with the blood, or urine of infected animals (2-4). First phase of disease is associated with leptospiraemia whereas second phase is mediated immunologically. Acute interstitial nephritis (AIN) is most common cause of acute kidney injury (AKI) in leptospirosis. Pauci-immune crescentic glomerulonephritis (CrGN) with AIN or AIN with crescents are not reported.
