WCN25-2745 ASSESSMENT OF DIETARY SALT COMPLIANCE IN PATIENTS WITH HYPERTENSION UNDER ANTIHYPERTENSIVE THERAPY
Dietary salt is a modifiable risk factor not only for hypertension but also for other cardiovascular diseases, independent of hypertension. It contributes to the highest number of premature deaths and disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) among all dietary-related factors. Studies have established a strong correlation between excess salt intake and blood pressure. The World Health Organization (WHO) has recommended salt restriction to <5 grams/day while the Nepali population has been found to consume almost twice the recommended amount, and even higher than global averages.
