WCN25-4135 SINGLE CENTRE RANDOMISED STUDY TO EVALUATE SAFETY AND EFFICACY OF SACUBITRIL-VALSARTAN IN COMPARISON TO TELMISARTAN IN CKD5D PATIENTS WITH HEART FAILURE
Patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) are at increased risk of both progression to end-stage renal disease and cardiovascular events compared with patients with normal kidney function. Randomized controlled trials have shown that renin-angiotensin system (RAS) inhibitors slow the progression of diabetic and nondiabetic proteinuric CKD, and lowering low-density lipoprotein cholesterol reduces the risk of atherosclerotic vascular events. However, despite such treatments, a significant risk of progression to end-stage renal disease and cardiovascular events remains.
