The purpose of the article is to help journalists who create texts about science for the media by formulating recommendations for work in this thematic area. Previously, the problems of popular science journalism were covered in detail in the Russian scientific community. This article summarizes existing research and considers examples from journalistic practice. The work also provides examples of simplification methods in popular science texts. The material for the analysis was two author’s articles on the website of the popular science magazine about science in the Chelyabinsk region “Green Monday”.
