SPORTS NEWS MEDIA EVENT FROM THE POINT OF VIEW OF THE THEORY OF RHETORICAL STRUCTURES
The article points out the relevance of studying the discourse that constitutes a sports media event for its taxonomic definition in terms of format and genre. The structure of news media events was studied using a machine learning model that draws on rhetorical structure theory. A corpus of 25 texts was used for the study, a total estimate of about 15 000 tokens. News items were selected randomly, without preliminary analysis of the topic of the message, but keeping in mind the number of word forms in the text, to form a corpus of approximately equal texts. It is shown that the emerging rhetorical relations and, in general, the structure of the discourse are one of the key elements in the formation of the stylistic features of a sports media event. Research into the structure of media texts is essential for a better understanding of how genre features are formed in the traditional and social sports media. The study of the discursive structure of a media event allows us to identify the features of its formation in traditional and social media and to assess the degree of influence of media convergence on it.
