Comprehensive Healing Of Extraction Socket Through Herbs Between Aloevera And Turmeric Gel – A Randomised Controlled Study

Aim: This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of aloe vera gel and turmeric gel with the objective of analysing the healing in extraction sockets along with the pain assessment.Materials and methods: A sample size of 60 patients undergoing atraumatic extractions were divided into three groups. Group A received Aloe Vera-soaked gel foams and Group B received Turmeric-soaked gel foams respectively. Group C was the control group and were given antibiotics. The extraction sites of the same patient were evaluated for soft tissue healing, pain assessment and bone density on postoperative day 1, day 3, and day 5. The pain was assessed using Visual analogue scale. Bone density was assessed using Greys scale. Data obtained was statistically analysed. Results: According to the results, all groups had a remarkable initiation in the development of healthy granulation tissue on the first postoperative day. On postoperative days 3 and 7, group B's soft tissue recovery differed significantly from group A's.The turmeric in the form of gel proved to enhance the soft tissue healing in the extraction socket.[1]Conclusions: According to the current study, the turmeric gel group experienced better soft tissue healing of the third molar extraction socket on postoperative days three and five compared to the aloe vera gel group.
