Design of a Mobile Application Interface for Job Searching with a Gender Perspective

Mobile applications facilitate job searching; however, gender bias during their development prevents women and men from experiencing the same levels of usability. This is due to the underrepresentation of women in development teams and the lack of gender analysis in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI). Consequently, this study integrates a Gender Perspective (GP) into its design using the User-Centered Design (UCD) methodology to understand the usability needs of both groups when using these applications. For this purpose, a prototype incorporating GP aspects and another without them were created. Both prototypes were evaluated by five cisgender women and five cisgender men. The results indicate that women perceive higher usability in the prototype with GP and lower usability in the one without it, while men show the opposite trend
