HISTORICAL VALUE - UNIQUENESS - IMAGINATION: WHY DOES TIME TURNS THE PRETTY INTO THE BEAUTIFUL

One of the features of the perception of historically valuable objects is their transition from the category of “pleasant” to the category of “beautiful”. Losing their utilitarian functionality over time, they show their artistic and aesthetic value. This is facilitated by the uniqueness of historical and cultural objects reaching the recipient from the depths of time: the aura of uniqueness actualizes productive imagination in the process of their perception, which, along with the ability to evoke cathartic emotions, is an attribute of “beauty”. An example of such a “reassessment” can be called both household items (sewing machine, antique musical instruments or books) that become interior decorations, as well as architectural structures or elements of the urban environment (fortress wall, ancient pavement, ancient gates ...).
