SPACE AS SENSUAL AUTHENTICITY: ANACHRONISM IN THE INTERIOR

The study aims at the description of aesthetic mode of experiencing space as something that, taking various forms, including emptiness, acquires a sensual potential. Using the example of a spatial ‘turn' in contemporary aesthetics, media studies and film theory, in particular, the thesis is substantiated that in the sensory experience of space there is a high probability of feeling the ‘emptiness' of time, literally, the unbearability of the present tense, which ‘hangs' too heavily.

Abstract

The study aims at the description of aesthetic mode of experiencing space as something that, taking various forms, including emptiness, acquires a sensual potential. Using the example of a spatial ‘turn' in contemporary aesthetics, media studies and film theory, in particular, the thesis is substantiated that in the sensory experience of space there is a high probability of feeling the ‘emptiness' of time, literally, the unbearability of the present tense, which ‘hangs' too heavily.
