VILLAGE PEASANT HOUSE AND URBANIZATION
The process of urbanization which from the 19th century actively influenced the development of cities in the civilized countries, also affected certain processes in the countryside, comprising the attitude of the inhabitants of peasant houses to their dwellings. In the past people's worldview comprised the idea of the obligatory symbolic separation of the inhabited area of the dwelling from the non-residential place, the world outside, which seemed unfriendly and hostile to our ancestors. In the 19th century the peoples neighboring Belarusians under the influence of urbanization felt a breakdown of the symbolic border between the internal space of the house and the outer world. In Belarus this happened much later, which is explained by the fact that here the process of urbanization in the cities began to influence village life much later than it did in the neighbouring countries. It can be accounted for by the specific peculiarities of the economic development of Belarus at that time.
