Long-Term Power Management of a Building-Integrated DC Microgrid with Hybrid Energy Storage System in Grid-Connected Mode
This paper examines by simulation how the integration of a hybrid energy storage system (HESS) into an existing office building with a PV system can increase the self-consumption over an entire year. The HESS, composed of a battery and a hydrogen storage system, is implemented within a DC microgrid. This creates a topology consisting of an existing AC building grid and a DC microgrid with one central bidirectional AC/DC converter. Commercially available components are modeled for this purpose. Using a state machine control method for the power management of the system, this contribution aims to validate the optimal size of the storages and PV system for the office building through a detailed parameter study while taking into account seasonal effects.
