Management Of Non-Healing Ulcer Associated With Atherosclerosis Through Jalukaavcharan And Yashad Bhasma Application - Case Report

Purpose- Managing a case of chronic, non-diabetic, non-healing ulcer associated with atherosclerosis using Jalukaavcharan (leech therapy)[i] and Yashad Bhasma, addressing the challenges of ulcer healing in the presence of vascular insufficiency.  Methods- Treatment consisted of Jalukaavcharan (leech therapy) for blood flow purification (Rakta Pravaha Shuddhi) followed by application of Yashad Bhasma to enhance blood purification (Rakta Shodhan) and stimulate erythropoiesis (Rakta Poshana). The ulcer healing process was assessed through clinical observations.  Results- Case showed marked improvement by chronic non healing ulceration breakdown where enhanced granulation tissue formation occurs along with improved blood flow resulting in initiation of better Healing and conversion of non-healing to healing stage.  Conclusion- This case demonstrates the potential efficacy of combining Jalukaavcharan and Yashad Bhasma for managing chronic, atherosclerosis-related non-healing ulcers, with improved outcomes in blood flow and wound healing by rakta mokshan, rakta shodhan and rakta dhatu poshan concepts.
