STORYTELLING AS A MEANS OF FOSTERING ORAL PROFICIENCY IN MIDDLE SCHOOL
The article dwells on the use of storytelling as an effective pedagogical means of developing oral proficiency in middle school. Speaking is a key skill in language learning, yet many students find it difficult to communicate and struggle to express themselves fluently and confidently. By highlighting the importance of interactive and narrative-based approaches in language teaching the article presents storytelling as a valuable, practical method for improving learners’ speaking skills. The experimental study conducted in middle school demonstrates the efficiency of integrating storytelling activities in the English teaching classroom to enhance students speaking abilities, focusing on fluency, vocabulary use and overall oral confidence. The data analysis of the experimental study suggests that storytelling not only promotes the development of speaking skills, but also provides an engaging and creative atmosphere for learners to practice oral communication. The novelty of the article lies in its empirical evidence to support the innovative use of storytelling as an effective strategy in developing speaking skills in middle school.
