THE PRINCIPLES OF OLYMPIC EDUCATION AS A MEANS OF FORMING HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS’ MORAL EDUCATION

Youth education is undergoing a major change. New branches of education are emerging. One of these branches is Olympic education. This kind of education is an inseparable part of physical education. The article presents the content of Olympic education and its influence on the moral culture of schoolchildren, in details. Olympic education is based on political, humanitarian, pedagogical ideas of modern Olympism. The paper examines the positive results of using Olympic education in the process of schoolchildren’s education, physical education and sports trainings. In modern times, mastering Olympic knowledge is very necessary for the development of the Olympic movement and the progress of the whole society. However, the results of many studies conducted among schoolchildren show that, along with the growth of interest among young people in sports and Olympic Games, there is a weak assimilation of the ideals, values and traditions of Olympism. Considering the relevance of the topic, the theoretical and practical significance of the problem, we conducted a social survey among 90 bisexual high school students in 3 public schools in 2023, Gyumri revealing that young people show great interest in sports and the Olympic Games. However, there is still a low level of moral education culture among schoolchildren, which is confirmed by the results of our study.
