VACINAÇÃO ANTIRRÁBICA DE CÃES E GATOS DOMÉSTICOS: ANÁLISE DA COBERTURA VACINAL E DAS CARACTERÍSTICAS DOS DOMICÍLIOS QUE VACINAM SEUS ANIMAIS NO BRASIL
The objective y was to test the association between socioeconomic and demographic factors of owners with anti-rabies vaccination of domestic animals (dogs and cats) in a sample of participants of the 2019 National Health Survey. Cross-sectional study with brut and adjusted regression analysis using the following exposure variables: sex, age, skin color, schooling and per capita income. The prevalence of households that vaccinated all dogs and cats in the sample was 74.4% and 56.7%, respectively. Higher odds of vaccination against rabies were found in dogs from households whose heads of household were older (OR=1.41), with higher schooling (OR=2.94) and with higher per capita income (OR=1.77). In relation to cats, there was a higher odds of vaccination in households with higher schooling (OR=2.13) and per capita income (OR=1.42) of the head of the family. In conclusion, sociodemographic and economic variables of households were associated with higher odds of vaccination of animals, indicating that public policies related to the topic should take these factors into consideration when proposing vaccination actions.
