A 91.1% Peak Efficiency Multi-Input Energy Harvesting Interface With High Accurate Hybrid MPPT
This paper proposed a multi-input high-efficiency energy harvesting interface which is simultaneously harvesting from thermoelectric (TEG), photovoltaic (PV), and piezoelectric (PZT) energy sources. The design utilizes a hybrid MPPT design and an adaptive switching cycle (ASC) scheme to track the maximum power point (MPPT) of the sources to achieve higher MPPT accuracy and end-to-end efficiency, and converting the piezoelectric energy rectified by a parallel synchronized switch harvesting on inductive (P-SSHI) rectifier and the thermoelectric and photoelectric energy into adjustable output. The interface is designed by HGBD 0.18μm CMOS process and simulated at the system level by using the Cadence Spectre tool, the results show that the maximum output power of the circuit is 15mW, and peak MPPT efficiencies of the thermoelectric, photovoltaic, and piezoelectric are 99.73%, 99.87%, and 99.22%, the peak end-to-end efficiency of the circuit is 91.1%.
