Timing and Power characterization of Standard cell with Google + SkyWater 130nm PDK using Open-Source Tools

This paper presents a model for timing and power characterization flow using open-source tools. The process includes utilizing an open-source layout design tool to create circuit layouts, followed by SPICE netlist extraction to obtain a detailed description of the circuit, incorporating both active devices and parasitic RC components. An open-source SPICE simulator is then employed to generate a comprehensive Liberty (.lib) file. This method supports the open-source ecosystem, offering a valuable resource for designers working with open-source technologies. The proposed library characterization flow is used to characterize the open-source Google + SkyWater 130nm technology at three different process corners. The results are validated by comparing against a library characterized using a commercial tool, proving the accuracy of this flow. This research advances the capabilities of open-source design methodologies, promoting collaboration and innovation in the field of integrated circuit design.
