Indoor Localization Method Based on GNSS Relay Multibeam Forwarding
Conventional GNSS signal indoor positioning technologies take use of the pseudo-satellite systems and GNSS relay transponders, and they often suffer from high deployment costs and the need for specialized receivers. In order to simplify the indoor positioning implementation, a multibeam coverage system with different signal transponders design is proposed in this paper. The outdoor GNSS signals are received by the relay point of the system, and their code phases and frequency offsets are also acquired by demodulation. These observations are modified according to the specified indoor locations. Several GNSS signals, which share the same PRN code with the received satellite signals, are then generated and transmitted by different indoor beams. The adjacent beams are overlapped at their -3dB points, so the receiver shall get the smoothed pseudorange measurements of beams, where the corresponding indoor positioning is also averaged. The performance of the proposed indoor coverage system is simulated, and some hardware experiments are also arranged to verify its function.
