DEVELOPMENT OF POLYESTER COMPOSITE FOR DLC COATING ON WIND TURBINE BLADES

The exponential growth of clean energy around the world is being studiedmainly out of concern for maintaining the sustainability and health of the planet. In thiscontext we can observe a large investment in wind energy where it ends up sufferingperformance and maintenance losses due to the wear on the wind blades due to thedegradation of suspended particles. This paper proposes a solution to mitigate oreliminated the wind blades degradation by production of a composite that simulatesthose used in wind turbine companies compound by polymeric resin and fiber glasscovered with Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) film. The study then took into considerationa way to solve such problems using the production of a polymeric composite thatsimulates those used in wind turbine companies in material and in the form ofdevelopment, after this a film of Diamond Like Carbon (DLC) was deposited, DLC filmmay elevate a material that has high hardness, mechanical properties and corrosionresistance enlarging the wind blades lifetime.
