VALORIZATION OF COMPOUNDS FROM Moringa Oleifera LAM. SEEDS THROUGH APPLICATION IN BIODEGRADABLE FILM FOR COATING FRUITS

The objective of this study is to valorize of the defatted flour and oil fromMoringa oleifera Lam. seeds for application in biodegradable films for fruit coating. TheMoringa oleifera oil was extracted, and the fatty acids (87.5% oleic acid) and proteins(39%) were quantified. The film was prepared in without and with the oil and subjectedto characterization in terms of thickness (260 μm and 290 μm, respectively) andmoisture content (28% and 24%, respectively). The findings indicate that the oil filmmay exhibit enhanced resistance and reduced hydrophobicity. The biodegradabilitytest substantiated that the film is biodegradable. In conclusion, applying the film topapayas proved to be effective, highlighting the potential of using Moringa oleiferaseeds in biodegradable films for fruit preservation.
