BRIQUETTING: THE VIABILITY OF BABASSU SHELL
Briquettes and pellets have the potential to replace firewood as energysources for heat and electricity. This study assesses the feasibility of producingbriquettes from babassu bark, addressing challenges such as epicarp rigidity, manualcrushing due to equipment limitations, and the need for an efficient compressionmechanism. The findings demonstrate that babassu bark can indeed be convertedinto briquettes, providing a sustainable and economically viable energy alternative.Furthermore, this research underscores the significance of utilizing agricultural wasteand emphasizes the value of localized and innovative solutions to environmentalchallenges.
