DEVELOPMENT OF A LOW-COST BIODIGESTER USING HORSE MANURE
The study aimed to develop a low-cost biodigester using horse manure asraw material for biogas production. A biodigester is an anaerobic system wherebacteria decompose organic matter, resulting in biogas and biofertilizers. The processinvolves four main phases: hydrolysis, acidogenesis, acetogenesis andmethanogenesis. The typical composition of biogas varies, being mainly composed ofmethane (CH4) and carbon dioxide (CO2). The temperatures at which maximum gasproduction occurs are between 35-45°C, the digestion cycle can vary from 30 to 60days. The biodigester proved effective in producing biogas, although it facedchallenges such as temperature variations and adequate sealing.
