A STUDY ON THE VIABILITY OF CEMENTITIOUS BOARDS IN THE PERIPHERY OF SALVADOR

The constructive process in masonry - widely applied in Brazil and in the localities of Salvador - is one of the oldest methods in history, mainly due to its artisanal characteristics. However, contrary to the current consolidation, this research aims to present the most critical points of the conventional technique, demonstrating the characteristics and benefits of cement boards, associated with the Steel Frame, and analyzing their applicability in the peripheral houses of Salvador. Scientific articles, videos and a visit to a company specialized in the constructive form were used as research instruments. As a conclusion, it was observed the invalidity of implementing the proposed method in the short term, mainly due to its high initial cost and need for qualified labor, which is not feasible for the residents of the locality.
