INDUSTRY 4.0 TECHNOLOGIES APPLICABLE TO RAIL FREIGHT TRANSPORT: BRAZIL SCENARIO
This study investigated the implementation of Industry 4.0 technologies in railfreight transport in Brazil. The objective was to characterize how these technologies can benefitthe railway sector, highlighting the main enabling technologies and their impacts. Using aquantitative approach, specific descriptors were used to collect data in works publishedbetween 2013 and 2024, totaling 15 studies. The results indicate that the integration of Industry4.0 technologies in the railway sector offers opportunities to optimize logistics, operationalsafety and competitiveness. The benefits of applying smart sensors and remote monitoringstand out, evidenced by case studies that cover everything from detecting problems on the roadto improving operational efficiency. Analysis of the results reveals a growing trend in theadoption of these technologies by railway companies, with significant impacts on the efficiencyand safety of operations.
