NUMERICAL INVESTIGATION OF HYDROTREATED VEGETABLE OIL AND DIETHYL ETHER INTERACTIONS WITH DIESEL ON THE PERFORMANCE AND EMISSIONS OF A COMPRESSION IGNITION COMBUSTION ENGINE

This work presents a numerical analysis of the interactions betweenhydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) and diethyl ether (DEE) in mixtures with diesel, aiming to simulate and validate combustion performance and emissions incompression ignition engines. The developed computational model was validatedusing torque, power and consumption curves of the MWM 229.4 engine. HVO and DEEblends demonstrated significant improvements in torque and horsepower, as well as areduction in carbon monoxide and particulate matter emissions. However, there wasan increase in nitrogen oxide emissions in some mixtures, suggesting the need foradditional optimizations. The model presents itself as a promising tool for the analysisof alternative fuels, with potential for improvement through the incorporation ofexperimental data.

The developed computational model was validatedusing torque, power and consumption curves of the MWM 229.4 engine. However, there wasan increase in nitrogen oxide emissions in some mixtures, suggesting the need foradditional optimizations. The model presents itself as a promising tool for the analysisof alternative fuels, with potential for improvement through the incorporation ofexperimental data.
