EFFECTS OF FOOD SUPPLEMENTATION OF RUMINANTS WITH MICROENCAPSULATED LIPIDS BY SPRAY DRYING: A CONCEPTUAL APPROACH
The quality of food from ruminants is of great importance for foodproduction, food security and the health of the population, and is directly related tothe diet the animal receives. The nutrition of this class of animals faces challengesrelated to rumen biodegradation and oxidative processes, especially when it comesto lipids, which are essential for energy metabolism. In this scenario, microencapsulation is a strategy used to benefit lipid supplementation in animal feed. However, there are measures to be considered for the process, such as the mostappropriate encapsulation technique. The present study aimed to present the gainsthat lipid nutrition generates in the diet of ruminants and in the quality of derivedproducts, and how microencapsulation by Spray Drying can improve the digestion of these animals.
