DECOMMISSIONING OF OIL AND NATURAL GAS PRODUCTION FACILITIES: THE GLOBAL SCENARIO, STRATEGIES AND OPPORTUNITIES

The decommissioning processes of oil and natural gas production unitshave significant economic potential due to the operational nature of these processes. In Brazil, it is estimated that the investment in decommissioning offshore units by 2028will be around BRL 60 billion. This article examines the decommissioning of offshoreunits for the oil and gas (O&G) production, the strategies, the technics andopportunities for the subsea services and supply chain, observing the global scenario, also, investments foreseen, especially in the industrial sector, which is directlyimpacted as it operates extensively in the value chain of decommissioning activities. The work also aims on bring light to the main challenges that these activities faces withthe global climate changes and the possible impacts, furthermore some possible waysto deal with.
