SISAL AND AGAVE HYBRID H11648 SEEDLING DEVELOPMENT FROM BUBILS

Strategies for Agave seedling production are necessary to improve thesustainability, management, and production of sisal fibers in Brazil. This work aimedto measure the morphological characteristics of agave seedling growth from Agavesisalana and Agave H11648 bulbils. The experiment was conducted in Conceição doCoité, a semiarid region and a major producer of sisal fibers in Bahia state. The HybridH11648 showed higher development than A. sisalana, including the indexes of plantheight, stem diameter, and leaf length. Using seedlings from H11648 bulbils allows forfaster transplanting to the field compared to A. sisalana seedlings.
