CHALLENGES AND NEW PERSPECTIVES IN NATURAL GAS CONTAMINANTS SEPARATIONS – OFFSHORE SCENARIO
Natural gas is a crucial component of the global energy matrix, composedof hydrocarbons and contaminants such as CO2, H2S, and H2O, which must beremoved to prevent corrosion and hydrate formation. In Brazil, pre-salt discoverieshave boosted oil and gas production, but they face logistical and technologicalchallenges, requiring efficient processes to minimize equipment weight, and maximizeefficiency on platforms. This paper reviews the literature on various technologies, including chemical absorption, adsorption, and membrane separations. The resultshighlight specific advantages and challenges associated with each technology, as wellas new perspectives on their applications.
