IMMOBILIZATION OF BURKHOLDERIA CEPACIA LIPASE IN AGRO-INDUSTRIAL RESIDUE FROM THE COCOA INDUSTRY AND BIOCHEMICAL CHARACTERIZATION
Enzymatic immobilization makes industrial processes more productive andcost-effective, and its combination with the reuse of agro-industrial residues offers analternative for reducing undesired environmental impacts. This work aimed toimmobilize Burkholderia cepacia lipase on cocoa bean shell (CBS) using physicaladsorption and covalent bonding, and to characterize the biochemical properties of theimmobilized biocatalysts in terms of pH, temperature, and operational stability.Covalent bonding was the most efficient technique for recovering enzymatic activity. The immobilized biocatalysts showed optimal pH ranges between 7 and 8.5, lowthermal stability, and operational stability between 7 and 9 reuse cycles, demonstratingsignificant potential for industrial applications.
