INFLUENCE OF THE NEW PHARMACOLOGICAL AGENT OSTICOR ON BLOOD PARAMETERS OF LABORATORY RATS IN A CHRONIC TOXICOLOGICAL EXPERIMENT

The sphere of domestic aviculture is experiencing swift expansion in contemporary times. An essential factor that influences both the lifespan and the extent to which birds achieve their genetic potential is the condition of their skeletal framework. Consequently, the quest for novel and efficacious pharmacological solutions to address osteochondropathy within avian populations stands as a critical challenge for both veterinary medicine and industry operations. The process of conducting thorough and comprehensive preclinical assessments of these innovative medications underpins the assurance of their efficacy and safety. The objective of this research endeavor is to scrutinize the impacts of an innovative compound, osticor, aimed at both preventing and treating osteochondropathies among birds, observing its effects on the hematological profiles of lab rats over an extended toxicological study. In this investigation, we structured four cohorts of lab rats (comprising three test groups alongside a control set). The test cohorts were administered subtoxic levels of osticor over a 90-day period. With the intent to identify any adverse outcomes, blood extractions from both test subjects and controls were executed on days 45 and 90 for a comparative analysis of essential homeostasis indicators. Findings from this elongated toxicological assessment revealed that the protracted application of osticor, as a compound designed for ameliorating osteochondropathy in avian species, at subtoxic quantities does not elicit toxicological repercussions on the physiology of lab rats, as substantiated by comprehensive hematological and biochemical analyses. The study elucidated that osticor promotes erythropoiesis in endotherms, beneficially influences the hepatocellular protein synthesis, and positively modulates biochemical indices of mineral homeostasis. In poultry farming, the occurrence of osteochondropathy often necessitates the utilization of laboratory rats for toxicological research. These studies, aimed at identifying chronic toxicity, involve rigorous analyses such as complete blood counts and biochemical blood tests.
