The Impact of Student Supporters’ Activities on Student agency
Based on the findings of a qualitative analysis to examine the impact of student supporters' activities on participants' student agency. This study proposes support measures to realize student-centered education at the university level. Student Supporters is a program run by local C Universities in Region D, and its purpose is not only to carry out public relations activities, but also to propose educational policies that the students themselves want. The study was conducted through written and in-depth interviews with 20 student supporters, followed by an analysis using the constant comparison method. The activities of student supporters were found to have a positive impact on academic engagement, career and employment support, diverse experiences, personal development, and interpersonal relationships. Satisfaction with these activities encourages active participation, strengthens students’ sense of belonging and promotes responsible behavior, ultimately fostering student agency, which is essential for university students. After discussing the results of this study and identifying its limitations, we make recommendations for student-centered education, such as diversifying student input channels and establishing a program to compare college immersion.
