Effect of Tooth Bleaching using Cold Plasma (Magnetic Fields) Combined with a Tooth Bleaching Gel Containing Strawberry Juice
As interest in natural bleaching that is effective and safe for teeth grows, demand for the product is on the rise. This study aims to develop a bleaching agent based on natural fruit juice and evaluate the efficacy and safety of teeth bleaching using cold plasma. Twenty extracted human tooth were randomly assigned to four groups (n=5): Group 1-1 (neutral gel) and Group 1-2 (neutral gel + cold plasma), Group 2-1 (strawberry juice) and Group 2-2 (100% strawberry juice + cold plasma), Group 3-1 (strawberry juice with 1% HP) and Group 3-2 (strawberry juice with 1% HP + cold plasma), Group 4-1 (strawberry juice with 2% HP), and Group 4-3 (strawberry juice with % HP + cold plasma). A bleaching gel containing strawberry juice was created on the tooth surface, and the gel and cold plasma were applied for 30 minutes for 3 days. The overall color change (ΔE) was observed 30 minutes after treatment, and the pH change of the bleaching agent and the attachment of bacteria to the surface of the whitened teeth were evaluated. Statistical analysis of the data was performed using SPSS (SPSS Inc., Version 24.0, Chicago, IL, USA) at a significance level of 5%. The overall color change after the bleaching gel and cold plasma treatment was higher in the cold plasma treatment, and the color stability and or not were confirmed. It was confirmed that the bleaching treatment using cold plasma could suppress bacterial attachment, and the manufactured bleaching agent also did not affect the tooth surface. The most ideal bleaching condition was that the application of cold plasma to a bleaching gel containing strawberry juice containing 1% HP did not cause damage or demineralization of the tooth hard tissue and was safe and very effective.
